2015
Olomouc, Czech Rep.
Teacher: Charles Olivieri-Munroe (replacing Alim Shakh)
Some good things:
Decent organization, friendly organizer
Filming is great - you pay in and get a multi-angle performance video on a thumb drive.
Good repertoire choices
Concert at the end
Some bad things:
The orchestra plays Romantic and early 20th century music very well, but struggles a great deal with classical or early Romantic style. The Beethoven symphony was a real challenge.
Charles Olivieri-Munroe: He was a very harsh person, singling people out, and often times sitting on his phone during the workshop. He cared only about himself. Not recommended as a teacher, ever.
There were some very good participants, but also some COMPLETE beginners who could barely beat in four. This caused many of the more advanced participants, as well as the orchestra, to become disenfranchised.
