Orchestra: fantastic. Handpicked players from major orchestras across the country. Eighth Blackbird was also in residence in 2009.
There is a small group of participants and a larger group of auditors. Auditors often get a little time with the orchestra or a string quintet.
Usually a famous composer in residence.
Usually 3 student composers. Participants perform a new work by one of the student composers, as well as rehearse the standard repertoire.
Teachers have been Marin Alsop and Gustav Meier, but that will of course be different in the future since Marin has moved on and Maestro Meier has passed away.
Santa Cruz is a beautiful location near many gorgeous beaches.
